Aura Biosciences: Funding, Investors & Team (Sep 2026)

Aura Biosciences is a biotech company in the clinical stage that is working on developing a type of therapy called virus-like drug conjugates (VDC) for various types of cancer. Our purpose at Aura is to make a significant difference in the treatment of cancer types with a high unmet need. We are motivated by our dedication to science and the patients who rely on us to create these new treatments. Currently, we are focusing on using our VDC technology to treat tumors in ocular and urologic oncology that have limited treatment options. Our first VDC candidate, belzupacap sarotalocan (bel-sar), is being developed as a first-line treatment for early-stage choroidal melanoma, a rare form of cancer that currently has no approved medications. In addition to this, we are also exploring the use of bel-sar for other ocular oncology indications, such as choroidal metastasis. Additionally, we have initiated a clinical program for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC), which is our first attempt at treating solid tumors outside of the ocular field. We are able to target a broad range of tumors with our VDCs, making them a versatile therapeutic option.

About FundedIQ's Aura Biosciences Funding Data

FundedIQ tracks announced funding rounds and refreshes this profile every week. Round dates, stages and amounts are normalised to a single format, converted to US dollars, and de-duplicated: two records of the same round announced days apart are merged, and two genuinely different rounds are kept apart on the amounts they disclose. Amounts shown are the disclosed figures only — a round announced without a number is listed and excluded from the total rather than estimated.

Employee counts are reported bands, not exact headcounts. Founder and executive names carry the job title on record. Anything we do not hold for Aura Biosciences is left off this page rather than filled in.
