Comparative Cognition Lab: Funding, Investors & Team (Sep 2026)

We are a comparative cognitive research laboratory based at the University of California- San Diego. Comparative cognition offers a way to determine what skills make us uniquely human, and measure how similar our abilities are to those of our closest relatives (the great apes) — and other non-human animals. Through this work, we can explore the evolutionary origins of the human mind. We are dedicated to researching the nature of human sociality: How did it develop? What makes human social life possible and sustainable- cognitively, emotionally, and behaviorally? How similar is it to the social life of other animals? What is the role played by communication in the establishment of relationships? How do our cognitive behaviors change as we grow? These are a few of the questions we focus on.

About FundedIQ's Comparative Cognition Lab Funding Data

FundedIQ tracks announced funding rounds and refreshes this profile every week. Round dates, stages and amounts are normalised to a single format, converted to US dollars, and de-duplicated: two records of the same round announced days apart are merged, and two genuinely different rounds are kept apart on the amounts they disclose. Amounts shown are the disclosed figures only — a round announced without a number is listed and excluded from the total rather than estimated.

Employee counts are reported bands, not exact headcounts. Founder and executive names carry the job title on record. Anything we do not hold for Comparative Cognition Lab is left off this page rather than filled in.
